Revelation 2:18-29
"Called to Holiness"

In this fourth letter of the Revelation we meet the church in the city of Thyatira.  Despite the fact that there is much good about them — they are even demonstrating commendable progress, there is something deeply troubling going on in their midst.  In the name of Jesus, a member of their church is leading people astray, encouraging conduct that is sinful.  Jesus’ response is sobering but it also carries within it, a note of hope.  What becomes clear is that though sin must be taken seriously, repentance brings certain forgiveness.  Through faith in Jesus, we both receive forgiveness and are empowered to grow in holiness, so that we might  increasingly reflect the likeness of Jesus.
