In Mark 10:13-16 we read a short account about Jesus welcoming and loving little children, and declaring that "the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." At Sunrise we desire to be faithful to Jesus, folowing his example, welcoming and loving little children as he did. We want to do this in a wholistic way that blesses both children and their parents, and honours Jesus.
Currently we provide children's ministry options during both our worship gathering and during the discipleship and fellowship time which follows our gathering.
During the message portion of our worship gathering, we provide nursery care for those children 5 and under. All nursery aged children are welcomed to actively participate in our corporate worship time through the use of a variety of rhythm instruments. We typically include a special children's feature during our gathering, and then as well, we provide elementary aged children with activity bulletins related to our morning message.
Following our worship gathering, children can enjoy our informal time of fellowship, together with their parents and the rest of the congregation, before the 30 minute period of children's ministry programming. This programming differs from a traditional Sunday school ministry, alternating between such activities as a story and teaching time, singing, a craft time or games, with a rotation of adult and youth volunteers providing leadership from week to week.
