Luke 22:54-62
"Shattered"

In this passage we watch as Peter, one of Jesus’ closest disciples, denies being with Jesus three times.  This failure devastates Peter and leaves him "weeping bitterly” but it does more.  Peter is not only confronted by his massive failure but his confidence in his own strength and ability to stand boldly with Jesus is shattered and he comes to see that Jesus is his only hope.  If we read this story well, we will be impacted similarly, confronted by our sin and inability and reminded that Jesus is our only hope.  Though this is a sobering story, despite the tears it brings, it also brings us to see the gloriousness of the good news.
