Luke 9:51-62
"An Era of Invitation"

This passage serves as a turning point in Luke’s gospel.  It is at this point in time that Jesus “sets his face to Jerusalem” and begins his journey to Jerusalem and ultimately to the cross.  It’s a passage that teaches us a number of key things about discipleship or following Jesus, but it doesn’t simply leaves us with lessons.  It also points us to Jesus who has succeeded where we fail, who gave his life for our sin, and who clothes us with his perfect obedience, thus setting us free to grow as his disciples.
