Luke 4:14-30
"Good News for Outsiders"

Jesus’ ministry formally begins and Luke shares with us a story about Jesus’ return to Nazareth, the town he grew up in, and the sermon he shared on that occasion.  Initially the reaction is like it has been elsewhere, amazement!  But as Jesus continues, his words cause outrage and a mob tries to kill him.  As we explore the significance of Jesus’ words, what we discover is the radical and scandalous message of grace for all, even those on the outside.  He has come, not for those who belong or have earned anything, but rather for the poor, the blind, the oppressed - for the outsiders.  God’s grace is that amazing!
