Hebrews 1:5-14

In this text the author of Hebrews begins to dismantle any argument his original readers may have had to support a return to their former faith of the old covenant. His point is simply this; that Jesus and all that he has done and brought is far superior to the Old Testament message and the old covenant, mediated by angels in the past. The Old Testament and the old covenant find their fulfillment in Jesus and his gospel announcement. To abandon Jesus is, in fact, to abandon all that former faith was leading to and to find oneself with nothing.
