Hosea 4

As we enter into this passage we ought to envision a courtroom scene, Yahweh is charging his people with covenant unfaithfulness. They are guilty of going after other gods that really are not gods. They have reflected God's call on their lives and utterly failed to be a people who reflect his goodness and character in his world. As the charges are voiced, we recognize the deadly spiral of sin that leads ultimately to destruction. But God has not left us without hope. In Christ we find both forgiveness but also freedom so that, empowered by the Holy Spirit, we can walk in faithfulness reflecting the glory of God in the world.
