In Mark 10:13-16 we read a short account about Jesus welcoming and loving little children, and declaring that "the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." At Sunrise we desire to be faithful to Jesus, folowing his example, welcoming and loving little children as he did. We want to do this in a wholistic way that blesses both children and their parents, and honours Jesus.
Currently we are in a season of discernment and transition with regards to the exact shape of Children's Ministries at Sunrise. We are beginning the fall without a traditional Sunday school ministry, while continuing to provide nursery care for those children 5 and under. For older children, we will continue to welcome them to actively participate in our corporate worship time through the use of a variety of rhythm instruments. As well, we will be providing them with activity bulletins related to our morning message and have introduced a special children's feature as part of our worship gathering. Following our gathering, children can enjoy our informal time of fellowship, together with their parents and the rest of the congregation.
In the weeks ahead, we will be further exploring as a body, what God is calling us to as we seek to honour him and love children and their families well. Updates will be forthcoming.
